Last week, I went to pick up my two nephews, one from school and the other from nursery. If you’re a parent, you will be familiar with this process that I’m about to describe; as I approach their classroom door, they see me, run over to me and after a big hug, they begin to offload all of their bags into my arms.
I thought to myself in that moment, ‘what a beautiful picture that paints for us of how God wants us to approach Him’. 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
It’s possible right now that you’re carrying a lot of baggage, whether it be hurt, regret, fear, pressure, whatever it may be, God wants to say to you today, stop carrying things you were never meant to carry!
The Bible makes it abundantly clear, give everything over to God, cast your cares onto Him, for He cares for you.
The good news is that because of Jesus, you can live free, you can live light, the weight of your sin and the burden of life’s circumstances no longer play a part, because they aren’t yours to carry. When Jesus died on the cross, He put to death everything that had a hold over your life.
Don’t pick it back up today, whatever it may be, but leave it at the feet of Jesus.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
