Recently, myself and my family visited a vineyard while on holiday. We got to meet the owner and hear all about his business as he gave us a tour of his property. When it came to seeing the finished product, he began to describe how he was not looking to create the perfect wine, but rather a unique one.
That made an instant impression upon me as I think that very same goal is one that we too should strive for; when we begin to focus on uniqueness as opposed to perfection, I believe we will find far greater fulfilment and satisfaction in this life.
I’ve been reading a book lately by Dr Dave Martin, and I love one of his quotes in particular. He says, ‘The thing that makes you different is the thing that will make you great.’
I want to make it my aim daily to become more like Jesus and less like anyone He’s ever created. And when you can arrive at that, then greatness will follow.
Today, embrace your uniqueness, utilise that gift that nobody else around you has. You were made to stand out! Make a decision to take off the pressure of trying to be perfect, and just be you – it’s one of the greatest gifts you can give to this world.
A daily devotion for a better way of living.
