Fresh Hope – 30th March 2020

It goes without saying that we are all living in a very different world right now. There is no one out there that can quote ‘…the last time we went through this.’

This is a first for everyone that’s alive right now. It’s unsettling for many and scary for most, but it is also a season of great opportunity.

Life may not go back to ‘normal’ for quite some time, so we have to be determined not to waste this season, but instead to make it count. Everyone of us is gifted with the opportunity of being able to read, learn, study, pray, love, clean, sort and not least of all, think and dream. When was the last time that you were gifted with the time to do all the things that you’ve been moaning about for years. Your theme song has been has forever been…‘I would do that, but I just don’t have time’ – well now you have!

Get up, get dressed and get ready to go to work without leaving the house!

Imagine a bank credits your account each morning with £86,400. It’s carries over no balance from day to day. At midnight, the account resets to another £86,400 and deletes whatever part of the previous day’s balance that you failed to use. There’s no guarantee you will ever be given another £86,400. If that were the case, what would you do? Draw out every last pound of course!

Each of us has such a bank. Its name is TIME. Each morning you are given a gift that is credited to your life of 86,400 seconds.

Every night, what you have failed to use is lost.

Time carries over no balance from day to day. Time allows no overdraft and you cannot hold on to what you did not use the day before.

If you fail to use the day’s deposits, the loss is yours.

I challenge you today to take a long hard look at your life in this unique season and ask yourself, what am I going to do with my time?

How and where do you spend it?

How much time am I wasting?

How much time am I spending just on me?

How much time am I investing in others?

How much time am I spending with God?

Everything in life has to to have a balance to it, but I’m sure that you will agree that it’s hardly a balanced life sitting in front of a TV every day.

Wake up; we only have one life to live!

Make an important decision today to not waste another minute.

There’s an old saying that says ‘time waits for no man’.

Write that book, dream that dream, make that call, clean out that junk, read those books, cook that recipe, love your children, learn something new, throw out that clutter, bag up those unwanted clothes, pray those prayers, listen to podcasts, study the Bible, love on others, send messages daily, believe in yourself and No.1 put Jesus first in all that you do.

Today has already been partly spent —what are you going to do today with the rest of your 86,400 seconds?

Make your life count.

Don’t delay.

Make a decision to come out of this crisis different than how you entered it.

This will soon be over.

Take courage my friend.

Be a world changer, but if not, be a home changer.
